When appeals belong to the path
Appeal is the alternative end of the Kela path. It comes after a decision if you do not understand it, notice an error or disagree.
This article does not promise an outcome. It helps you act calmly before the deadline.
Tick the items as you complete them before sending the appeal.
Before appealing
What to do first
Read the appeal instructions in the decision. Check the deadline and write down exactly what you disagree with. If the issue is missing information, find out whether it can be sent to Kela.
Step 1. Read the decision and deadline
First check the date by which the appeal must be submitted.
Step 2. Write what you disagree with
Briefly explain what you think is wrong or missing in the decision.
Step 3. Add supporting information
Attach only documents that support your point.
Step 4. Send the appeal and follow the response
Follow the instructions in the decision and keep checking Kela messages.
Do not wait until the last day. If you need help understanding the decision, ask immediately.
Need help after the decision?
After the appeal, follow the response in OmaKela or in the way Kela instructs. SKMY can help you understand the next message or prepare for communication, but Kela makes the decision.
