What is Migri?

Start the Migri path: what Migri does and how the decision route progresses.

What is the Migri path?

The Migri path is a decision route: first you understand whether you need a residence permit, then you apply or extend, follow processing, read the decision and know what to do before the next deadline.

Unlike the DVV registration path or the Kela benefits path, the Migri path does not start with a form — it starts with choosing the correct application type.

Who handles what?

Migri — residence permits, EU registration, decisions and appeals • DVV — personal identity code, address and kotikunta after a positive decision • Kela — benefits and interpreting for appointments

If your question is about address or kotikunta, start in DVV. If it is about a benefit, start in Kela.

How does the route progress?

``` Do I need a permit? → Choose application → Enter Finland → Processing → Decision → Renewal ```
A first application and renewal are different stages. Processing and the decision are shared by both.
