SKMY warmly thanks Kuurojen Liitto for its cooperation and support during the first stage of our association’s work. When a new community is being built, encouragement, professional knowledge and the chance to discuss early decisions are especially meaningful. Kuurojen Liitto’s support has helped us take our first steps with confidence and purpose. Our cooperation is based on a shared goal: deaf people should be able to participate in society on their own terms, receive accessible information and be treated equally when using services. For SKMY, it is particularly important to recognise the experiences of people whose daily lives include deafness, migration and building a new life in Finland. In these situations, clear information, peer networks and working connections can make a real difference. We value Kuurojen Liitto’s long-standing work for the rights, participation and wellbeing of deaf and sign-language users. The support we have received encourages SKMY to develop its activities responsibly, listen carefully to the community and learn from its partners.
